Alia Bhatt has been surrounded by projects she is confirmed to be working on, along with several rumored ones. The actor has a packed 2025 as she is currently filming Love & War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal alongside her. While busy with this period magnum opus, she may have also found her next big-budget film after wrapping it up—this time, with Kalki 2898 AD fame Nag Ashwin. Read on to know everything about it.
Nag Ashwin has been one of the busiest filmmakers in the South. He is currently in the news for writing and directing Kalki 2898 AD, a franchise starring Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and more. While the makers are developing the second film in the franchise, Ashwin is set to work on a different project before diving into the sequel, and reports suggest that Alia Bhatt is in talks to headline it.
According to a Pinkvilla report, before moving on to Kalki 2898 AD Part Two, Nag Ashwin is set to work on another feature film, which Alia Bhatt has reportedly shown keen interest in. However, sources reveal that she wants to ensure the schedule aligns with Love & War before making a commitment.
“The genre and other aspects are being kept under wraps for now, but Nag Ashwin is in advanced talks with Alia Bhatt for a project close to his heart. Alia has loved the world that Nag is looking to create and is excited to collaborate with the maverick filmmaker,” said a source close to the development.
The source further revealed that discussions are at an advanced stage, but contracts have yet to be signed. “The dates are being sorted, as Alia wants to be 100% sure about the timelines of Love & War before committing to another project from November. Nag Ashwin wants to start his film in November and finish it within a set timeline, as Kalki 2898 AD Part Two is slated to begin in the second half of 2026. Right now, they are working on finalizing the logistics before the paperwork is completed. Creatively, both parties are on the same page—it’s just about aligning schedules now,” the source added.
