Deepika Padukone out of Kalki 2 after Spirit due to 'friction on sets'? Here's what we know

Deepika Padukone and Sandeep Reddy Vanga have had a fallout, and the actress was reportedly removed from his film, Spirit. This comes after one of her demands for a 6-hour work shift, as she is a new mom, did not sit right with the filmmaker. Now, a new report claims that Deepika has been removed from the much-awaited Kalki 2. 

Deepika Padukone out of Kalki 2?

According to a report by Bollywood.mobi, Deepika Padukone is almost out of Kalki 2 as her request for "shorter work hours" following motherhood is reportedly causing "friction on sets". Reports suggest that the makers of Kalki 2 are now considering dropping her from the film completely. However, no official statement has been made by the actress or the makers yet.

Meanwhile, Kalki 2898 AD stars Deepika, Amitabh Bachchan, and Prabhas in the lead roles. The sci-fi action film is set in a dystopian future in 2898 AD, where the story revolves around the predicted Kalki, the tenth avatar of Vishnu, who will be born as a lab test subject. 

The narrative follows various characters, including Ashwatthama, a cursed immortal, and Bhairava, a bounty hunter, as they travel to a world ruled by the tyrannical Supreme Yaskin. The story is woven with Hindu mythology, exploring themes of good versus evil and the cyclical nature of time.

Deepika Padukone was removed from Spirit

According to reports, Deepika Padukone was removed from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit due to disagreements over remuneration and allegations of "unprofessional" behaviour and one of her demands for a 6-hour shift as she is a new mom. 

Addressing the situation, Vanga wrote X, "When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You've 'DISCLOSED' the person that you are...Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn't get it. You won't get it. You will never get it."

On the other hand, Kajol, Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Mani Ratnam, and many other celebrities supported the new mom's demand, and they said that an 8-hour work shift is a rightful demand.

Meanwhile, Deepika welcomed her first child, daughter Dua, in September 2024 with her husband, Ranveer Singh.
