Deepika Padukone is a strong supporter of mental health issues. The actress, who has openly discussed about suffering from depression, launched the Live Love Laugh foundation in 2015 to raise awareness of mental health, fight the stereotypes, and give reliable mental health support. In a recent interview with Vogue India, Deepika emphasised the significance of having a therapist on board during the film shoot.
Having a therapist accessible on the set seems to be something she genuinely hopes to implement in the coming years. She cannot see why the makers couldn't get a mental health professional on site as well, she remarked.
In the 2020 film Chhapaak, which is directed by Meghana Gulzar, Deepika played an acid assault survivor. While filming the psychologically demanding film, the actress revealed that she was accompanied by a therapist. She hired a therapist for herself during Chhapaak since there were days when she had panic attacks or felt claustrophobic; it wasn't simple carrying the emotions that came with playing Malti for so long. It was crucial for her to have a therapist by her side throughout that time. In fact, she went through a similar procedure with Gehraiyaan, she revealed.
She has already initiated the process of having a counsellor on the sets on an individual basis, but as a producer, she said, she would like to make counselling available to the entire team. This would be beneficial for the entire cast and crew to deal with any sort of mental stress and challenges, according to the Om Shanti Om actress.
Deepika Padukone has an intriguing list of films lined up that includes Prabhas starrer Project K, The Intern remake alongside Amitabh Bachhan, Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham, and Fighter, co-starring Hrithik Roshan.
