Deepika Padukone has reacted to Dwayne Johnson’s ‘I didn’t know what mental health was’ comment. The actress is the first from Bollywood to openly claim that she was once depressed. Soon after, she started her NGO, The Live Love Laugh Foundation.

Recently, Dwayne Johnson made a comment which caught everyone’s attention. He spoke about mental health and said that he didn’t know what that was. “I didn’t know what depression was. I just knew I didn’t want to be there,” he said.

Deepika reacted to that through her Instagram story. The actress wrote three words and left it at that. “Mental health matters,” she wrote while sharing his comment.

Dwayne Johnson spoke about mental health on The Pivot podcast. He opened up about depression and said that he first felt depressed while he was at the University of Miami. The actor did not even know what he was feeling back then but just knew he needed to get out of it. Thus, he left the university without taking mid-terms.

Deepika came out in the open about her mental health in 2015. She did not openly talk about the reason for her depression but left hints that it was after one of her relationships.

She was last seen in Pathaan. The movie featured Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role and was the first in YRF’s Spy Universe. Pathaan also featured John Abraham as the lead antagonist.

The actress is now working in Fighter. The movie, also helmed by Siddharth Anand, sees her paired opposite Hrithik Roshan for the first time.
