Bandla Ganesh, who tried his hand at comedy and film production in the last couple of decades, turned a lead actor for the film Degala Babji earlier this year. The film, which hit theatres on May 20, is the official Telugu remake of the award-winning Tamil film Oththa Seruppu Size 7 (streaming on Netflix), headlined by Parthiban. Degala Babji is a single-actor film directed by Venkat Chandra. The film was bankrolled by Swathi Chandra and presented by Rishi Agastya of Yash Rishi Films.
After its brief theatrical run, the film is gearing up for its OTT premiere. Telugu OTT platform aha has bought the streaming rights of the crime drama. aha made an official announcement about the same this week. Degala Babji will premiere on aha on September 2. This is incidentally the fourth release on the platform in the same weekend after Panchatantra Kathalu, Pellikuturu Party (August 31) and Wanted Pandugod (also on September 2).
The story of Degala Babji revolves around an emotionally unstable murder suspect, who, after getting arrested by the cops, takes us through the modus operandi behind the crimes he had committed, resulting in several intriguing revelations. aha had also launched the theatrical trailer of the film on social media, adding, “Nata vishwaroopam choopisthu, oka kottha konam lo, mana munduku vasthunnadu Degalababji.” Lynus Madiri is the composer of the film.
Vydehi and Marudhuri Raja have written the dialogues for Degala Babji. Arun Devineni had cranked the camera for the film while Gandhi Nadikudikar was the art director. Degala Babji was edited by SB Uddhav. Muppa Ankammarao is the co-producer. Bandla Ganesh, in the past, had produced films like Temper, Iddarammayilatho, Baadshah, Teenmaar and Gabbar Singh while acting in Vinodam, Ahvaanam, Sindhooram, Suswagatham, Nuvvu Naaku Nacchav, Sarileru Neekevvaru and Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi.
Abhishek Bachchan is headlining the Hindi remake of Degala Babji, directed by Parthiban.
