Bandla Ganesh, who started his career as a comedian and eventually turned a producer, has donned the grease paint again, headlining a film titled Degala Babji. The Telugu remake of Parthiban's critically acclaimed Oththa Seruppu Size 7, Degala Babji, is directed by first-time filmmaker Venkat Chandra. The film is produced by Swathi Chandra and presented by Rishi Agastya of Yash Rishi Films. The makers announced recently that Degala Babji will hit theatres on May 20.

One of the first single-actor films ever made in Telugu cinema, Degala Babji is nothing short of a challenge for Bandla Ganesh. The actor admits it was risky to be a part of a single-actor film, who stays in a room throughout the runtime. "It's a challenging story and I hope this turns out to be my career-defining film, bringing me respect as an actor. I've been waiting for this respect for over three decades now. I am glad to be the lead actor in the remake of a National award-winning film. I thank Puri Jagannadh, Harish Shankar for their support," he said.

Director Venkat Chandra shared that Bandla Ganesh has delivered a performance of a lifetime in Degala Babji. "His performance will be a talking point among many after the film's release," he added. Both the actor and the director lavished praise on the composer Lynus Madiri and his background score. Vydehi and Marudhuri Raja have penned the dialogues for Degala Babji, whose technical crew includes cinematographer Arun Devineni, art director Gandhi Nadikudikar and editor SB Uddhav, to name a few. Muppa Ankammarao is the co-producer.

Oththa Seruppu Size 7, the film that inspired Degala Babji, is currently streaming on Netflix. Not much is known about Degala Babji's post-theatrical streaming rights. Temper was the last film for Bandla Ganesh as a producer; he also backed films like Iddarammayilatho, Baadshah, Teenmaar, Gabbar Singh in the past. In the early part of his acting career, Bandla Ganesh was part of many notable films including Vinodam, Ahvaanam, Sindhooram, Suswagatham, Nuvvu Naaku Nacchav and Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi, to name a few.
