A deleted scene from the National Award-winning film has surfaced on the internet

A deleted scene from Suriya's National Award-winning film Soorarai Pottru has surfaced on the internet. In the video, Suriya's character Maaran is seen taking on some aggressive ticket agents who are against the idea of a low-cost airline. Soon, we see stones being pelted on Maaran and his friends, Chaitanya Rao (Krishnakumar) and Sebastian (Vivek Prasanna). A fight ensues and Suriya and friends manage to rough up the fighters. The scene, which is a dubbed version in Hindi, has been doing the rounds on the internet. The Hindi version was titled Udaan and was released a few months later.
Soorarai Pottru is directed by Sudha Kongara, and has Suriya and Aparna Balamurali playing the lead. The film has an ensemble cast which includes Paresh Rawal, Mohan Babu, Urvashi, Poo Ramu, Kaali Venkat, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Prakash Belawadi and Dan Dhanoa to name a few. Music is by GV Prakash, cinematography by Niketh Bommireddy and editing by Sathish Surya. The film released directly on Amazon Prime Video and received positive reviews from the critics and audience.
Soorarai Pottru bagged five awards at the 68th National Film Awards, including Best Feature Film, Best Actor (Suriya), Best Actress (Aparna Balamurali), Best Screenplay (Sudha Kongara and Shalini Usha Nair) and Best Background Score (GV Prakash Kumar). The film was made available for screening at the 93rd Academy Awards, but wasn't nominated. It was also selected for screening at the 78th Golden Globe awards.
The film, which is based on the life of low-cost airline founder, Captain GR Gopinath, is now being remade in Hindi with Akshay Kumar and Radhika Madan in the lead. Sudha Kongara is helming the remake as well. Suriya will be making a special appearance in the film and has also doubled up as the producer. The shoot for the film is on in full swing.
