Delhi Crime 2: Rasika Dugal opens up about reprising her role in new season of Shefali Shah led Netflix series

Rasika Dugal is gearing up to don the khaki yet again, as she reprises her role as IPS trainee Neeti Singh in the second season of Delhi Crime. The actress recently opened up about the crime thriller’s upcoming new season.

In conversation with news agency IANS, Rasika called the show one that is ‘close to her heart’. The actress said that she loved to get a chance to reprise her role of Neeti Singh, calling the character ‘idealistic, sincere and with a touch of being jaded’. Rasika spoke of how Neeti’s ‘jadedness’ was inevitable, as the character found herself a part of a difficult system. The new season would see a lot of the character trying to navigate her personal and professional life, said Rasika.

The actress also opened up about how they had shot the new season over the past two years sporadically. The cast and crew had started the shoot before the pandemic began and had wrapped up filming only late last year. “So I am delighted that it is ready to be shared with an audience who gave Season One so much love", she added.

In addition to Rasika, Shefali Shah, Rajesh Tailang, Adil Hussain, Yashaswini Dayama, Sidharth Bhardwaj, Gopal Dutt, Denzil Smith, Tillotama Shome, Jatin Goswami, Vyom Yadav, and Ankit Sharma are also expected to feature in the show’s new season. The show’s first season had become a hit with audiences and critics alike, earning the International Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. All episodes of the first season can be streamed on Netflix.

Netflix had announced that the new seasons of a host of its popular shows will land on its platform soon. In addition to Delhi Crime, new seasons of Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, Mismatched and Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega are also awaiting release.
