Netflix’s India original series, Delhi Crime, started streaming on the platform back in 2019, and was a big success. The makers have now announced that the crime drama show will be returning for a second season, and they have also announced a release date. 

What was Delhi Crime Season 1 about?

Delhi Crime had Shefali Shah in the lead, playing DCP Vartika Chaturvedi, and told the story of the aftermath of the infamous 2012 Delhi gang rape. The show followed Vartika, as she was tasked with finding the culprits responsible for the heinous crime.

The second season of the show follows the seasoned cop played by Shefali Shah, along with Rasika Dugal’ Neeti Singh, who has now been promoted, and Rajesh Tailang’s Inspector Bhupendra Singh, as they are tasked with another challenging investigation. The show follows the characters’ personal and professional life, as yet another unthinkable crime takes place in India’s capital city.

Adil Hussain, Anurag Arora, Sidharth Bhardwaj and Gopal Dutt reprise their roles from the first season of the show. 

The first season of the show, which is available to stream on Netflix, also featured Aakash Dahiya, Denzil Smith, Avijit Dut, Gopal Datt, Sanjay Bishnoi, Mridul Sharma among others in important roles.

Netflix released an official teaser for the second season, which promises yet another dark and gruesome series that will follow the Delhi police staff who are trying their best to bring the city to its safest best. They will be seen running against the clock with an understaffed unit, as another crime takes hold of the city and the people turn to the police for answers.

Produced by SK Global Entertainment, Golden Karavan, Film Karavan, Tanuj Chopra is the showrunner and director of Delhi Crime season 2. Mayank Tewari, Shubhra Swarup and Ensia Mirza are the writers on the show, with Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh and Virat Basoya having penned the dialogues.
