Celebrated film producer and distributor Anand Pandit has announced that he has joined hands with Eros International and Parag Sanghvi to produce sequels and re-make two hit films - Omkara and Desi Boyz.

Talking about the collaboration, Anand said, "Yes, it is true that I have collaborated with Eros International and Parag Sanghvi to make a sequel and a re-make of two iconic films. Each of these films - Omkara and Desi Boyz - were trailblazers in their respective eras for their storytelling, star cast, and music."

The producer believes that both films remain unforgettable for their command over their respective genres.

Explaining the intention behind revisiting these two films, Anand said, "They have a cult following for different reasons and it seemed like the perfect time to revisit these hits and take their stories forward for a new generation of viewers."

Desi Boyz is a 2011 romantic comedy directed by Rohit Dhawan, brother of Bollywood superstar Varun Dhawan. The film had Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Chitrangada Singh and Anupam Kher in lead roles. Sanjay Dutt featured in an extended cameo.

Omkara, a multiple-award winning film released in 2006, is a crime drama adapted from William Shakespeare's Othello. It is co-written and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The multi-starrer film featured Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Konkona Sensharma, Vivek Oberoi and Bipasha Basu. The film won 41 awards, including three National Film Awards for Best Supporting Actress, Best Audiography, and Special Jury Award.

Anand Pandit has had quite an eventful year as he produced, presented and distributed films like Doctor G, Thank God and Drishyam 2. His next, which is touted as the biggest release of the year, is the Ranveer Singh-starrer Cirkus. He is also the presenter of Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan that is slated to release next year.
