Despite being bashed in Indian theatres, Barbie becomes one of the most loved films on OTT

Barbie has recently released on OTT and the movie, despite not working in Indian theatres, is a big hit on web. So much so, that it is the third most loved this week. The film has managed to overthrow Akshay Kumar’s Mission Raniganj out of the list unveiled by Ormax Media. This is for the week of December 22-28.

Barbie on the list

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has made it to the list. The film featured Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the roles of Barbie and Ken. The movie did not work in Indian theatres and in fact, it was more often than not bashed for its content. Despite that, Barbie, which is now out on Jio Cinema, is among the top theatrical films to be released on OTT.

Jawan and Leo still in competition

Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is still the most loved film on OTT. The film has been on the spot for nearly two months since its Netflix release. This does not come as a surprise, for the Atlee directorial is also among the highest grossing films of the year. Vijay’s Leo is in competition with this movie on the second rank once again this week.

Akshay Kumar’s Mission Raniganj out

Akshay Kumar’s Mission Raniganj was the third most loved theatrical release on OTT for nearly a month. The film was among the many, including Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, Farhan Akhtar-produced Fukrey 3 and Akshay’s own film, OMG 2. This week, Mission Raniganj is out of the list and it has been replaced by Barbie.
