It wasn't too long ago that Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava ran into trouble in Maharashtra. This happened when the film’s first promo aka the teaser released. Cut to now, when the film has released in theatres, there's a 180-degree switch. Chhaava, which was once threatened over its release, is now running 24-hour screening in Maharashtra itself. Here's everything you wanted to know...

Chhaava running 24 hours in Maharashtra

Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava is now screening 24x7 in Maharashtra. The movie is a huge hit in the state and it is on audience demand that the movie on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is screening for 24 hours straight in the state, a report on Pinkvilla claims. So, bookings are open even at mid-night, which is a rare phenomenon with films post-pandemic.

What was Chhaava controversy and the end-result of it?

Avid followers of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj took offense upon seeing actor Vicky Kaushal dance like in a Bollywood movie. Thus, the makers were asked to remove the lezim dance sequence. After taking feedback, especially from Raj Thackeray, director Laxman Utekar decided to remove the lezim dance scene. Since it lasted seconds, the impact of removing the scene was not much. However, Vicky expressed disappointment in being unable to take the dance form to a global platform and feels it is an opportunity lost. Nonetheless, he respects the decision taken and now, the movie is out in theatres with the desired cuts.

Chhaava day 1 Box Office breaks records

It is probably a by-product of the 24-hour screening time, but Chhaava has a promising Box Office opening day. Minting Rs. 31 crore already, the movie has a record-breaking start and is moving forward at a steady pace. Chhaava is currently being compared to blockbusters like Pathaan, Jawan and KGF: 2. Whether the movie can keep pace remains to be seen.
