Despite flops, Dulquer Salmaan signs Sampath Nandi's next, makers of The Raja Saab to bankroll?

Dulquer Salmaan is in no mood to slow down as he continues to sign back-to-back films in Telugu cinema. Currently, he is shooting for a film titled Aakasamlo Oka Tara, directed by Pawan Sadineni, and for another project opposite Pooja Hegde.

Apart from these two films, we have learned that Dulquer Salmaan is in talks with the makers of Prabhas The Raja Saab. According to a source close to the team, noted director Sampath Nandi recently narrated a script to Dulquer Salmaan, and the actor absolutely loved it. 

The makers of Raja Saab will bankroll this film, which is expected to go on the floors in the second half of 2026, once the Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra maker wraps up his pending acting assignments. 

While Dulquer signing back-to-back Telugu films is nothing unusual, his decision to okay a film with director Sampath Nandi has come as a surprise. 

Sampath Nandi has delivered mostly flops so far, and his last film, Seetimaarr came way back in 2021. Sampath's only major hit was Racha, starring Ram Charan, and it was released over a decade ago. 

Since then, Sampatha has struggled to rope in top actors and the fact that he managed to impress Dulquer Salmaan with his script has already become a major talking point in film circles.

The source further adds that Dulquer was quite excited about the project, particularly the way his character has been written. If everything goes as planned, the project will be locked.

As of now, the financials and shoot schedules are being worked out. Once Sampath Nandi gives the final narration, things will be locked and the project will be officially announced.

Dulquer Salmaan enjoys a massive following in the Telugu states. His last film, Lucky Bhaskar, went on to collect over ₹100 crore at the box office, appealing to both youth and family audiences. 

Looking at his lineup, it is clear that Dulquer is not only choosing content-driven and romantic films but is also exploring full-fledged commercial entertainers in Telugu cinema.
