Bellamkonda Sreenivas is a popular Telugu actor. So far, he has worked with A-list heroines in his career. And now he has made his Hindi film debut with the film Chatrapathi. The film, which released in theatres yesterday, has been panned by critics. The day-one numbers are quite low, and the film is finding it hard to attract audiences to theatres.
From the trailers, it can be seen that the film has been made on a huge budget. Pen Studios inked a three-film deal with Bellamkonda Sreenivas, and their first project is Chatrapathi.
Now, we have learned that the film was made on a Rs 45 crore budget, and Rs 5 crore was spent on publicity and promotions alone.
Pen Studios has released Chatrapathi on its own across the country. But one look at the collections of the film reveals that the film will fall flat and will not make even half of what was spent on it.
But the production house has marketed the film so well that they have sold the digital and satellite rights of the film to ZEE for a whopping Rs 50 crore. So, it is a no-loss project for Pen Studios. Now, whatever the film makes in theatres will be a profit for the studio.
The makers are confident that in the next few days, the collections will improve in the northern parts of the country.
Bellamkonda Sreenivas' action-drama is a remake of the Rajamouli film Chatrapathi. It is directed by VV Vinayak. Nusrat Barucha is the female lead, while Bhagyashree plays the mother of the hero.
