Detective Karthik, an investigative thriller headlined by Rajath Raghav and Goldie Nissy, released in theatres this July and received decent response from critics. Abhilash Bhandari, Shruti Mol, Anusha Nuthula, Hasini Rai, Madee played supporting roles in the film directed by Venkat Narendra. Ashok Reddy bankrolled the film under Reading Lamp Creations.

After a modest run in theatres, the film is now out on OTT. Amazon Prime Video bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the thriller. The film can now be watched by renting it for (48 hours for) Rs 79. Venkat Narendra wrote the script for the film for which Siddam Naresh cranked the camera. Carthic Cuts is the editor, with Rajasekhar Sudmoon, Hemanth Kumar G handling production design, art direction.

The story takes off when a school-going student Rishitha is found dead and a detective Sandhya (Shruthi Mol) takes it upon herself to decode the mystery behind the murder. When Sandhya’s life is in danger, her partner Karthik (Rajath Raghav) is out to find her. Detective Karthik is about Karthik’s true identity and how he traces Sandhya’s whereabouts and finds Rishitha’s murderer.

Several critics praised the writer, director Venkat Narendra for his compelling screenplay and addressing a relevant issue in the digital era. They were appreciative of the storyteller’s ability to discuss the perils of over-dependence on technology, besides lauding the cinematography and the slick editing. A few pointed out pacing issues in the second half and felt it had a simplistic climax.

Multiple Telugu films including Dahanam (Rs 79), Sukhibhava (Rs 79) and Gammathu (Rs 99) were made available on Amazon Prime Video on rent recently. Dahanam is a social drama headlined by Aditya Om while Sukhibhava stars Tanya Choudhury, Nidhi Hegde and Rohit Kesiraju. Gammathu, directed by Aswwani Sri Krisshna, stars Parvateesam, Swathi Deekshith.
