Detective Sherdil Trailer OUT: Diljit Dosanjh's quirky investigation about billionaire’s mysterious murder will keep you hooked

Diljit Dosanjh is all set to be seen in ZEE5's upcoming thriller, Detective Sherdil. He will play the role of a detective who solves cases with his twists and style. The thriller will also be available for streaming on OTTplay Premium once it releases on June 20. Ahead of the release, the makers dropped the trailer today, June 10.

On June 10, ZEE5 released the trailer of Detective Sherdil. The trailer shows a billionaire’s mysterious murder, played by Boman Irani. One young boy shoots him and puts his car on a bomb blast, thus the billionaire is found gruesomely murdered in Budapest. Then enters Diljit Dsoanjh as Detective Sherdil. The trailer also introduces Natasha (Diana Penty), a brilliant investigator with a mind as sharp as her presence is striking. 

As the two delve deeper into the complex web of family secrets, betrayal, and billion-dollar motives, the case becomes increasingly twisted and unpredictable. What unfolds is a gripping game of deception, where each suspect hides a hidden secret and each new revelation flips the story on its head.

The trailer also shows Diljit saying, "I think I got it" towards the end. The film is going to be a rollercoaster ride of fun, thrill, and mystery. Sharing the trailer, ZEE5 captioned it, "A murder with many suspects. And a sher with the chaabi to everyone's dil Are you ready?"

Detective Sherdil includes a stellar ensemble cast, including Diljit Dosanjh, Diana Penty, Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah, Chunky Panday, Sumeet Vyas, Banita Sandhu, Kashmira Irani, and others.

Speaking about the film, Diljit said, “Playing Detective Sherdil has been fun for me. The character quirks and this attitude is something that I have tried differently. Hope audiences enjoy this character and the film.”

On the other hand, Boman Irani said that his character Pankaj Bhatti commands attention, even in his absence. His character has built an empire, but it’s his inner turmoil and unspoken regrets that make him truly compelling. 

"Detective Sherdil is a gripping story about control, power, and secrets—and that complexity is what drew me to it. Working under Ravi Chhabriya’s direction was a joy—he understands performance and emotion at a deep level, which elevates every scene," Irani shared.

Talking about her character Natasha, Diana Penty said that it is one of the most grounded characters she has played. As per her, Natasha is sharp and lives by logic, structure, and precision.

On the other hand, Chunky Panday said, "I had a great time playing him because there’s more to him than meets the eye. Detective Sherdil is full of unexpected twists and humour, and the ensemble cast made it a vibrant set to be on."

Meanwhile, Detective Sherdil, produced by Himanshu Mehra, Ali Abbas Zafar, Rohini Singh and Manmeet Singh, will land on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium on June 20, 2025.
