A veteran couple filed a case against actor Dev. They complained that loud music comes from Dev’s flat at any time of the day and disturbs the peace. Though Dev lives in a residential area, he opened a music studio in his apartment. The High Court did not take any direct action. They asked the neighbours to go to KMC and appeal there.

According to the corporation, the chief manager of the licensing department will make a decision soon. Dev lives in a gated community in South Kolkata. Dev's neighbor Nicholas Warren Bard filed the case. He complained that loud noise comes from the flat, for which his ailing wife gets disturbed. He told this to the building committee, but to no avail. Hence he took a legal step. Last year, the court asked KMC about its stand on this case. KMC replied that the business license in Dev's flat was issued abiding by the rules and regulations. Dev also said that he would not want to disturb anyone and run the business in a peaceful atmosphere. He also said that he would abide by the rules of the building.

However, the aged couple complained that the building committee did not permit Dev to open his business. This tussle went to the division bench via the single bench of the High Court. The division bench passed the case to KMC. KMC said that the discussion is finished, and a decision will be announced soon.

The neighbour’s lawyer Parthasarathy Deb Barman told Anandabazar Online 'no business can be run like this in a residential area. We are waiting for KMC's decision.'
