Dev on Byomkesh O Durgo Rohoshyo: I wanted to make a Byomkesh that people will remember

A lot has been said after superstar Dev announced that he will play Byomkesh Baksi in Durgo Rohoshyo. Now the moment has come. In another month, Byomkesh O Durgo Rohoshyo will be released in theatres. Directed by Birsa Dasgupta and produced by Shadow Films, the film also features Rukmini Maitra as Satyabati and Ambarish Bhattacharya as Ajit. After a pre-teaser, the teaser of the film was dropped on July 14 at a city hotel where Dev, Rukmini Maitra, director Birsa Dasgupta, producer Shyamsundar Dey, and others were present. The actor, actresses, and director met the media after the teaser release. 

Talking about playing the character and the conversation around the casting, Dev said, “I agreed to play Byomkesh because of Durgo Rohoshyo. I don’t know if I would feel the same if the story was drawing room centric. This film is all about the big screen experience.”

Do Abir Chatterjee and Anirban Bhattacharya’s Byomkesh encourage him to play the character? “It is Shyamsundar Dev who encouraged me. Then comes my creative urge to explore the character. Also, it is not that I am only playing Byomkesh. I am playing many other characters. I wanted to make a Byomkesh that people will remember,” he said.   

The teaser introduces some of the characters, including Santilal Mukherjee, Rajatava Dutta, Debesh Chattopadhyay, and Satyam Bhattacharya. The film will be released on August 11.
