Sweta Bhattacharya, who has become a household name after Jamuna Dhaki, is all set to work in Avijit Sen’s Projapoti opposite Dev. The film will also bring back Mithun Chakraborty and Mamata Shankar together on the big screen after Mrinal Sen’s Migayaa in 1976. Avijit has earlier directed Tonic with Paran Bandyopadhyay and Dev. The film has garnered critical and commercial success. Atanu Roy Chowdhury is the producer of both the films.

Projapoti is a story of a father and son. Mithun will be seen as the father of Dev. In an interview with Anandabazar Patrika, Atanu said that they wanted a new face opposite Dev. He also revealed that he was watching Jamina Dhaki when he noticed Sweta. Avijit, meanwhile, has expressed complete faith in the producer’s choice.

Sweta has acted in a couple of films before but this will be one of her major films. She has worked in the lead characters in serials like Sindoorkhela, Jarowar Jhumko and others, besides Jamuna Dhaki. In an interview with ABP, she said that it was a dream -come-true moment for her. She further added that she was shocked and thrilled when the offer landed to her. By her admission, she has never been comfortable in intimate scenes and bold outfits. That has been a reason for refusing a number of projects. However, she finally accepted this offer because of the association with Atanu, Avijit and Dev. She admitted that she would not have to compromise with her choice of not wearing uncomfortable costumes.

Musician Rathijit Bhattacharya, who rose to fame through a music reality show, will compose the music of Projapoti. The film will go on the floors in early July and is slated to be released this winter.
