Devika & Danny teaser: Ritu Varma's OTT show is an intriguing coming-of-age social drama

Ritu Varma was last seen in the comedy caper Mazaka. Though the film did not do well, Ritu Varma's glamorous avatar was loved by one and all. Some time ago, we at OTTplay reported that Ritu Varma is doing a web series for JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar, titled Devika & Danny. Now, the show is all set to release soon, and the makers have dropped the teaser, and it looks quite interesting.

The teaser begins on an intriguing note, with Surya Vasishta shown attempting suicide. Then, Ritu Varma is introduced as Devika Nandan, a small-town woman who works as a school teacher and has rarely ventured beyond her village. Devika has little control over her own life, including her marriage, and she ends up tying the knot with Subbaraju. What happens when Surya Vasishta enters her life is hinted at in the teaser.

The twists and turns in Devika's life will be explored across the show's eight episodes. Devika & Danny is directed by Sreekaram fame B. Kishore. This marks his debut in the web series format, and he has chosen an interesting subject.

For Ritu Varma, the show presents her in a new avatar, and playing such roles is second nature for the Pelli Choopulu and Keshava star. Ritu looks lovely in the traditional look and plays this school teacher who is confused in her life. The way she has been showcased in the teaser looks good.

The series also features another popular actor, Shiva Kandukuri, as the other lead, though he is not seen in the teaser. The show is produced by Sudhakar Chaganti, and the streaming date is yet to be announced. The small-town setting and the intriguing storyline of a village girl make the series quite promising.

Devika & Danny is also special as it marks the return of seasoned actress Kovai Sarala to Telugu cinema after a six-year hiatus. The story is penned by Deepak Raj, with music composed by Jaya Krish, and the production is backed by Joy Krish Productions. In the coming days, the streaming date will be revealed along with the trailer.
