Devika & Danny: Shiva Kandukuri to be a surprise element in the Ritu Varma series

Devika & Danny marks the first-ever web series for Pelli Choopulu and Mazaka fame Ritu Varma. Though she had been offered several shows before, Ritu consistently chose films over OTT content. Now, she is making her leap onto the small screen with her debut web series, Devika & Danny.

This village drama is set to stream on JioCinema and Hotstar from June 6, 2025. Promotions are in full swing, and Ritu Varma is seen portraying a woman caught between three men. Why does a woman, who is all set to marry someone, fall in love with another man? And what role does the third person play in all of this?—These questions form the crux of the story.

Shiva Kanukuduri, known for Bhootaddam Bhaskar Narayana, also plays a key role in the show. We've learned that his character will add a fun element to the series. While Shiva has mostly played soft roles in his career so far, this time, he will be seen as Subbu—a very down-to-earth and fun-loving person. The promos showcase Shiva in an endearing light, and he looks top-notch. He’s a natural, talented actor, and this role is said to be significant.

According to sources close to the show, although Shiva isn't featured prominently in the promos, his role is crucial to the storyline. The series is directed by B. Kishore of Sreekaaram fame and features Ritu Varma as a school teacher. Her character is instinctive and tends to make impulsive decisions in life. The series explores what happens when such a woman is forced to confront real-life issues, depicted superbly across eight episodes.

Devika & Danny also stars seasoned actor Subbaraju in a key role. He plays the man Ritu Varma's character is about to marry, and his attempts to spy on her as she falls for someone else bring a comedic twist to the narrative.
