Devika Janitri to direct and produce film on her novel Chikkiya Mooguthi with Shwetha Srivatsav

Shwetha Srivatsav, who was last seen onscreen in 2016’s Kiragoorina Gayyaligalu, is all set to return onscreen with a bang, following a maternity break. The actress welcomed daughter Asmita in 2017 and signed her first film thereafter in 2019. Called Rahadari, the film directed by Girish Vairamudi, in was launched in December 2019, but not much has been heard of it since.

In the interim, Shwetha went on to sign up for Hope, a political thriller directed by Varsha Sanjeev that revolves around administrative and legal issues, as well as political corruption and has her playing a KAS officer. Hope, which is ready for release, will mark Shwetha’s return to the big screen. Her next big signing was Raghavendra Stores with Navarasa Nayaka Jaggesh, directed by Raajakumara maker Santhosh Ananddram and backed by the producers of KGF.

Raghavendra Stores, she says, is nearly done, so, Shwetha is gearing up to head to the set of her next, a rural subject called Chikkiya Mooguthi. To be produced and directed by Devika Janitri, on whose novel of the same name the film is based, the story touches upon subjects relevant in rural areas, including female infanticide and child marriage. Shwetha will have a few rounds of workshops with the team before they go on floors. Despite the relatively serious subjects that the film will tackle, the actress says that Chikkiya Mooguthi will not be an arthouse project and will be made as an entertaining commercial film.

Shwetha, who is having a swell time with her second innings in cinema, is quite kicked about shooting for projects back-to-back and says that beside Raghavendra Stores and Chikkiya Mooguthi, she is part of two other big productions, official announcements of which will happen soon.
