Despite featuring a terrific star cast and boasting of an impressive trailer and a teaser, Devil released in theatres globally without much hype and hoopla. The controversy surrounding Naveen Medaram’s directorial credits added fuel to the fire and surprisingly the producers - Abhishek Pictures - opted against organising any major promotional event in the Telugu states.
Devil was the second theatrical release for Kalyan Ram this year after Amigos. At the box office, the team has relied on the crowd pulling ability of its lead stars. Despite positive reviews, the film is off to a slow start at the box office. Abhishek Pictures has officially confirmed that the thriller has collected Rs 10.42 crore gross in two days, while bettering its tally on day 2 (Day 1 - Rs 4.92 cr, Day 2 - Rs 5.5 cr).

The overseas distributors for Devil, Prime Media, stated that the film has collected over $ 1,00,000 on day one, amid reports that it underperformed beyond expectations. On the second day, the film has earned around $ 45,000 in North America (in 133 locations). Thanks to the absence of any major competition and good word of mouth, the film is expected to perform better on Sunday.
The pre-release business of Devil is valued at around Rs 21 crore (share) and the film has a long distance to go and needs to collect over Rs 15 crore if it seeks to reach the breakeven stage. Meanwhile, the satellite rights and post-theatrical rights of Devil were sold to the Eenadu group (ETV) and Amazon Prime Video, respectively.
Produced by Abhishek Nama, Devil also stars Catherine Tresa, Satya, Srikanth Iyengar, Ester Noronha, Seetha and others. The film has music by Harshavardhan Rameshwar with Soundar Rajan cranking the camera. Gandhi Nadikudikar handled the production design responsibilities while Tammiraju edited the film. Srikanth Vissa wrote the story, screenplay and the dialogues.
