Devil May Cry is one of the anime that have caught people's eye after Solo Leveling came to an end. It is not perfect and it is definitely not the next Solo Leveling but this series shows promise. The makers have confirmed the next season will be out soon too, but before that, here's looking back at what went right and what could have been better in the original series.
Devil May Cry was all about survival. From the minute you step into the world, the video game experience comes alive. From that point, you just know that you would live the anime. In that sense - the visual sense - Devil May Cry kept up.
Music, of course, played an important part of Devil May Cry ever since the trailer was out. This played an important role with the series too and thus, the second installment is expected to work on those lines too.
The biggest hopes pinned with the sequel is that the storyline of Devil May Cry could improve and be more original like John Wick. The sho w played it extremely safe by following the storyline seen since the OG anime, Naruto. From the goofy lead (here inspired by Hollywood classics) to an antagonist who was human forced to turn, well, inhuman a la Paradox Effect, the storyline was done-and-dusted and many viewers believed that there could be much more that the anime offers. With season 2 announcement, the makers would hopefully bring in the changes demanded by the netizens.
Honestly, no anime currently streaming has come close to Solo Leveling. While Devil May Cry appeared cool and to an extent, it even is, it is no Solo Leveling. Another anime that was touted to be the next Solo Leveling is The Beginning After The End. However, even that has failed to leave a mark with its weak animation. The first episode did leave the viewers impressed but the VFX did not, while Solo Leveling thrived on good visuals. Thus, we are yet to find the next Solo Leveling. But, on the bright side, One Piece is back with Egghead Island: Part 2. Knowing how it is as OG as Naruto itself, there are high hopes with this season. Currently, two episodes of the anime are streaming, with more to come. So, it’s probably just a matter of time till One Piece overtakes Solo Leveling season 2 again.
