Nandamuri Kalyan Ram-starrer period thriller Devil: The British Secret Agent has locked its OTT release date. The 2023 Telugu period actioner, also starring Samyuktha Menon, will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting from January 14. The film, directed by Abhishek Nama, received mostly mixed reception upon its release, but went on to become a box office success.
The makers of the film took to their social media page to unveil the OTT release date of the film.
The film, set in 1945, follows the story of a British secret agent who falls into a web of love, deceit and betrayal, while trying to solve a dark mystery.
Kalyan Ram opens up about adding commercial elements in Devil
In an interview with OTTplay, Kalyan Ram opened up about his experience of working on the project and why he was interested in signing up for the film. The actor revealed that Srikanth approached him with the script during the shoot of Bimbisara. “Since I am a commercial hero, he wondered if I would say yes to the script. But I liked the pre-Independence era backdrop, the idea of playing a spy in a thriller. However, I wanted more commercial ingredients in the script and they came back to me within four months,” he added.
The actor further revealed that he wouldn't have done the film if it was set in 2023. “I would also be bored if Devil was set in 2023. I’ve done a contemporary thriller like 118 already and don’t want to repeat myself,” he said.
The film also features Elnaaz Norouzi, Mark Bennington, and Edward Sonnenblick. Devil's music was composed by Harshvardhan Rameshwar, while Soundar Rajan handled the camera.
Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s future endeavours
Meanwhile, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram will be next seen in a film directed by Pradeep Chilukuri, which is tentatively titled NKR21. Reportedly, the film also features Bollywood actress Saiee Manjrekar as the female lead.
