Dhaakad: Kangana Ranaut calls film ‘genre-defining’, says her character is ‘a force of nature’

Kangana Ranaut will soon be back in action yet again, guns blazing, in her upcoming film Dhaakad. The official trailer for the same was unveiled on Friday, and had already raked in over twenty million views and still counting. And it seems Kangana herself shares in fans’ excitement to see her action packed avatar on screen as well. The actress recently opened up about her excitement at being a part of the film.

In a media interaction during the film’s trailer launch, as reported by IANS, Kangana said that it was her dream to be a part of films that have the potential to ‘change the norm’ and play ‘challenging’ roles. In Dhaakad, the actress essays the role of secret agent Agni, whom she calls a ‘force of nature’. Calling the film ‘a celebration’ of power and grit, Kangana said that her character was someone who stopped at nothing.“Dhaakad is a genre-defining film and we've worked very hard to create something that lived up to the dream that we had envisioned”, said the actress.

The film’s director Razneesh Razy Ghai talked about how the film, which marks his Bollywood debut, will always be close to his heart. Calling Kangana ‘the new brooding action hero’, the director said that he was amazed at how well the actress was able to grasp the screenplay. He also appreciated Kangana for acing the action sequences and referred to her as a powerhouse of acting.

Razneesh also opened up about Arjun Rampal’s character in the film, saying the actor will appear in a very unique avatar. The actor was able to bring a kind of ‘infectious energy’ said Razneesh. He added that the character’s look and style would also catch the audiences’ attention.

In addition to Kangana and Arjun, the upcoming film also features Divya Dutta, Saswata Chatterjee and Sharib Hashmi.

Dhaakad will be released in theatres on May 20, 2022.
