As a storyteller, family feuds, real-life tales driven by revenge and drama, have always fascinated Ram Gopal Varma - the Rakhta Charitra series, Vangaveeti, the soon-to-release biopic of Konda Murali are all proof of the same. The Rakhta Charitra series, starring Vivek Oberoi and Suriya, revolved around the conflict between politician Paritala Ravi and his arch-rival Maddelacheruvu Suri. RGV's first web production titled Dhahanam goes a few years back in time to discuss the story behind the brutal murder of Paritala Ravi's father and popular leader Sri Ramulu and his son's quest for revenge. The trailer of Dhahanam, to stream on MX Player from April 14, was unveiled today.

Dhahanam's trailer starts off with the ideals that Sri Ramulu, a communist labourer, had stood up for and the extent to which he could go to fight for a cause. For standing up against the injustice meted out to people within his community, the leader has to pay a heavy price, ultimately his life. The brutal murder of Sri Ramulu by the henchmen of a local leader sends shock waves across his family and his elder son, Hari, a naxal is committed to taking revenge. The feud only gets uglier with the involvement of corrupt cops, assassination plots, politicians and powerful goons. Where and when will this end?

Abhishek Duhan, Ashwatkanth Sharma, Naina Ganguly, Parvathy Arun, Isha Koppikar, Kancharapalem Kishore, Ravi Kale, Abhilash Chaudhary, Pradeep Rawat, Sayaji Shinde, Vinod Anand, Zakir Hussain and Kailash Pal play key roles in this bloody redemption saga helmed by Agasthya Manju, a regular collaborator with RGV, more popular for directing the controversial film Lakshmi's NTR a few years ago. The web show format is indeed an ideal platform to discuss the plethora of factors behind the faction wars in the Rayalaseema region though it's very obvious that it glorifies gore and redemption beyond necessity.

Dhahanam will simultaneously release in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil on April 14 on MX Player.
