Tamil superstar Dhanush was honoured with the Youth Icon award at the two-day entertainment industry summit, CII-Dakshin, in a glitzy ceremony held in Chennai on Thursday. The actor, known for his versatility and range, was thrilled to receive the award and gave an inspiring speech, reflecting on his journey in the movies.

"I never thought I would come this far. Also, I never thought that I'd win the 'Youth Icon' award when I am nearing 40," said Dhanush in his acceptance speech. "I take it as a reminder that there's so much more to achieve. There's more to run after, there is so much more to dream and conquer."

Dhanush, who has acted in over 40 films and won several accolades for his performances, thanked his family, directors, co-stars, and everyone who has been a part of his journey. "I take this as an opportunity to thank my mother and father, without their prayers and support I would not have been here. I also thank the almighty, my (Lord) Shiv. I have been blessed with wonderful directors throughout my journey. I thank so many senior actors, pretty ladies, and all of you here I have learned from every one of you."

Dhanush's speech was short, yet inspiring, as he shared his journey in the film industry. "For a guy with my kind of looks and the kind of time I entered the film industry, I would not have been accepted at all. And yet I came this far because I kept dreaming and believing that 'I'm this and I would become this'," he said.

The Youth Icon award was presented to Dhanush by Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Anurag Thakur.

Dhanush is currently shooting for his upcoming film, Captain Miller , a big-budget period drama written and directed by Arun Matheswaran. The film also stars Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar.
