D44 to have Raashi Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female leads opposite Dhanush. Movie to be set in 2 time frames where each of the female leads will feature in respectively. The soundtrack will be composed by Anirudh Ravichandar that marks the reunion of DnA after Thangamagan.

Dhanush and director Mithran Jawahar are teaming up for the fourth time, which marks the 44th movie for the Jagame Thandhiram star. Their earlier collabs include Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Kutty and Uthamaputhiran. Sun Pictures will be producing the project which will have Anirudh Ravichandar composing the music. The yet-to-be-titled film marks the reunion of Dhanush and Anirudh after Thangamagan. Fans of the actor and music composer are elated that the popular ‘DnA’ combo is back after five years.
Tentatively titled D44, the movie will have Raashi Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar playing the female leads. Raashi’s upcoming movies include Jiiva’s Methavi and Karthi’s Sardar in Tamil along with Naga Chaitanya’s Thank You and Gopichand’s Pakka Commercial in Telugu. On the other hand, Priya Bhavani Shankar will be seen in Shankar’s Kamal Haasan-starrer magnum opus Indian 2, anthology Kasada Thapara and Oh Mana Penne opposite Harish Kalyan. She recently resumed shooting for Arun Vijay’s 33rd film, directed by Hari, too.
According to a report in TOI, D44 will have its story set in two time periods: one in the protagonist’s college days and one in his adulthood. He will have two love interests in both the time periods, played by Raashi and Priya. However, we hear that the makers are yet to decide on which actress will be seen in which time period. It is said that Raashi will join the set first and Priya is expected to come on board later.
Dhanush is currently wrapping up the shooting of Karthick Naren’s Maaran after which he will join the team of D44. Maaran stars Malavika Mohanan as the female lead, and actors like Mahendran and Samuthirakani will be seen essaying prominent roles in the movie. It is heard that the actor will join his brother and director Selvaraghavan’s Naane Varuven from August 20.
The makers of D44 are planning to launch the project with an official ceremony on August 6.
