Tamil star Dhanush's latest movie, Captain Miller, made its OTT debut earlier this week on Amazon Prime Video . The film is receiving highly favourable reviews from streaming audiences, with some expressing regret about missing it on the big screen.

Captain Miller is a hit on OTT

"One of the best scenes in world cinema. Have we ever seen such a scene? What an iconic spiritual scene made. It was pure bliss to watch it in theatres. Many missed it. Now regretting not watching it in theaters. Direction and making at its best," said a fan on X while discussing the movie's pre-climax sequence.

"Captain Miller in theatres: Mokka, waste of money, only guns sound... Captain Miller On OTT: Missed in theatres, the best film of the year...," some fans took a sarcastic jibe.

"Miller plunges the knife directly into the general's heart, and blood spurts out. Like an inferno unleashed, the score by GV engulfs us in its intensity, matching the pyre's fury and stirring our souls... THIS IS CINEMA," explained another fan, referring to a scene when Dhanush's Miller kills a British army commander for the first time.

Captain Miller's disappointing box office performance

Following its OTT release, Captain Miller has become the number 1 movie on the streaming platform. However, the film received a very muted response during its theatrical run.

Captain Miller, touted to be one of the biggest films in Dhanush's career in terms of budget and scale, opened in cinemas on January 12, coinciding with the Pongal festival. While the film took a very encouraging opening worldwide, it failed to maintain its momentum after its opening week.

The highly favourable reviews also fell short of boosting Captain Miller's performance at the box office.

With less than Rs 70 crore collection from its four-week theatrical run, "Captain Miller" can be considered a box-office disappointment. Written and directed by Arun Matheswaran, the movie also stars Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Aditi Balan, John Kokken, Elango Kumaravel, and Nivedhithaa Sathish.
