In the process, the team also seems to have filled some parts of the canal. The canal is said to be the lifeline for everyone living in the zone. The shooting for the film is currently going on in a remote location in Tenkasi.

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the petitioner has claimed that the team is currently camped in the buffer zone of the Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve (KMTR). He has also alleged that the team has erected a massive set in a private land near the reserve and that they have been using high beam lights during the shooting, which has been affecting the wildlife in the locality. It is also said that incidents of elephants straying into farmlands too have increased after the team camped there.

The Kalakad Mundanthurai wildlife sanctuary is a wildlife buffer zone and a biodiversity spot that houses the endangered lion-tailed macaques. The environmentalists in the region, too, have complained about the disturbances.

In the meantime, the team will be shooting at the zone until the end of April. Captain Miller, bankrolled by Sathyajyothi Productions, has Dhanush, Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Mohan, John Kokken, Nivedhithaa Sathish and Shiva Rajkumar as part of the star cast. The film is directed by Arun Matheswaran of Saani Kaayidham fame and has music by GV Prakash Kumar.  The team is yet to announce the release date but it looks like the film will hit during the second half of the year.
