It’s taken more than a year and a half, but debutant filmmaker Sridhar Shikaripura’s Kannada suspense thriller that boasted a hyper-link narrative, Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage is finally on OTT. A month ago, the film had dropped on a streamer, albeit for audiences in the US only and on rental basis. It was expected that it would be available in India also shortly thereafter, as has been the case with films like Blink and Shakhahaari. But Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage took its sweet time and became available to stream as of June 6, 2024. The film is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage, which released in November 2022, is a suspense thriller with Naveen Shankar, Aishani Shetty, Yash Shetty, Nitesh Mahaan, Prakash Thuminad, Siddu Moolimani, among others, on the cast. The makers had tried to get the film on to a streaming platform earlier, but had failed in this pursuit.

Subsequently, more recently, they were able to get the film on Amazon Prime Video, through a Mumbai-based dashboard. The film began streaming outside of India and, unfortunately, for the team, like Blink and Shakhahaari, Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage also became available on piracy sites.

A multi-narrative crime thriller, Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage follows a group of strangers brought together by a series of coincidences. There’s an aspiring boxer whose girlfriend has been kidnapped, a car mechanic who finds himself accused of a crime he didn’t do; a small-time criminal who finds himself in the clutches of the law after an LSD trip goes awry and, lastly, a heart-broken lover, who goes about town in search of death.

Like other smaller experimental films, Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage also did not have it easy at the box office, with screens and show timings a continuous issue during its theatrical run.
