Dharmendra passes away: Several leading names like Priyanka Chopra, Manoj Bajpayee, Farhan Akhtar, Kajol and others paid heartfelt tribute to Dharmendra and expressed sorrow for losing a gem.

The Indian film industry is reeling with the shock of Dharmendra’s sudden demise. The veteran star passed away at the age of 89 and left a deep impact in the hearts of fans and Bollywood. Several leading names of B-town are paying heartfelt tribute to Dharmendra as they express sorrow for losing a gem. From Priyanka Chopra to filmmaker Karan Johar to Kajol-Ajay Devgn, various renowned faces of the industry are extending their tributes in heartfelt social media posts.
Dharmendra, also hailed as the He-Man of the industry, passed away today at the age of 89 after battling with some age-related health complications. The news of his sudden demise has left everyone in shock as they remembered him for his iconic screen presence and contribution to Indian cinema.
Global icon Priyanka Chopra shared a heart-touching social media post as she remembered Dharmendra for making her feel the warmth. She reminised her humble beginnings when she first signed with his production house, Vijayata Films and made her Hindi debut with Sunny Deol in Hero: Love Story of a Spy. "In the year 2001, my first signing amount in the movies came from Vijayta Films. One of the first Hindi movies I ever shot was under his banner, with his eldest son.
Him and his family, made me feel welcome in the industry, at a time when no one knew me," she wrote in a part of her lengthy post.
South actors like Rajinikanth and Allu Arjun also mourn the loss of Dharmendra and shared their hearty tributes for the iconic star.
While Karan Johar called his death ‘a gaping hole in our industry … a space that can never be filled by anyone,’ popular designer Manish Malhotra shared a pic from the sets of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, where he is admiring him as a beloved fan. Sharing a sweet tribute, he wrote, “Loved all his 70s films that I grew up watching .. his performances.. his comic timing .. his songs .. his clothes .. his style and him being the most Handsome Macho hero .. Kept meeting him on the sets of the film he was so warm and loving … huge loss to Indian cinema and someone whom you never ever wanted to see go.. Dharamji love , Respect and Admiration forever.”
Shilpa Shetty shared a sweet picture with the late actor and expressed her privilege of working with him. She hailed Dharmendra for his ‘big heart’ and kindness. In the post, Shipa wrote, “I’ve had the privilege of working with many talented actors, but none with a bigger heart than yours. Your talent, charm, and dashing looks were just the beginning, but your humility, simplicity, and kindness were so inspiring. You were a true original, a shining star that touched so many hearts.”
Farhan Akhtar celebrated Dharmendra’s legacy with a heartfelt post, and he bowed down gently for the veteran star’s contribution of ‘six decades of entertainment.’ Expressing his sorrow, the 120 Bahadur actor wrote, “A big, big loss to the entire film world. To those who make movies and to those who watch them, Dharam ji will forever remain irreplaceable.”
Ajay Devgn remembered Dharmendra’s generosity and presence as he wrote in an Instagram story, “Heartbroken to hear about Dharmendra ji. His warmth, generosity, and presence inspired generations of artists. The industry has lost a legend…and we’ve lost someone who shaped the very soul of our cinema. Rest in peace, Dharam Ji.”
Kajol shared a picture of Dharmendra with her son and expresed deep sadness over losing the ‘OG of the Good Man.’
Actresses Kareena Kapoor and Kiara Advani expressed their grief and emotions with Dharmendra’s nostalgic black and white pictures.

Calling Dharmendra as an incredible human being, Sushmita dropped a picture with a sweet goodbye. The Family Man 3 star Manoj Bajpayee also shared Dharmendra's picture as he hailed his humble personality and wrote, "Dharam ji was my parents favourite and one of my childhood heroes.."
Sanjay Dutt extended his support to the Deol family and remembered Dharmendra legacy in both personal and professional lives with a deep void left behind after his death. He said, "Some people don’t just work in your life… they live in your heart. Dharam ji was one of them. It’s a void that can’t be described. My thoughts are with Sunny, Bobby, and the entire family…"
Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit and Ranveer Singh shared pictures with the iconic late actor.


On the work front, Dharmendra will be seen in Sriram Raghavan’s war biopic, Ikkis, alongside Agastya Nanda. He will be seen in the role of a proud father. The makers had today shared an intense poster with the veteran actor. Ikkis, which will now be the last on-screen presence of Dharmendra, is set to premiere on December 25.
