Nadhive from The Girlfriend: Dheekshith Shetty thanks Rashmika Mandanna for trusting him with her life

Kannada actor Dheekshith Shetty is literally on cloud nine following the immense praise coming his way for the first single from his upcoming Telugu film The Girlfriend. The song, Nadhive, composed and sung by Hesham Abdul Wahab, features Dheekshith and Rashmika Mandanna in a contemporary choreography, shot on a specially-created set. Released in 5 languages, the song has over 12 million views cumulatively, with audiences highly appreciative of the effort both actors took to perform a dance form that’s new to them and involves a lot of synchronized jumps, lifts, etc.

Overwhelmed with the love for the song, Dheekshith has now shared behind-the-scenes glimpses from the making of the song, which have the actors strung up with ropes and defying gravity. What one thought were clever camera tricks to give the illusion of the actors walking up 90-degree inclines, among others, involved no such sorcery, but was the actors suspended on ropes and maintaining such an appearance.

Dheekshith, for whom contemporary was a tough nut to crack, thanked Rashmika profusely for the trust she put in him during the entire choreography, given that even the slightest fault on his part during jumps and lifts could have had disastrous consequences. He wrote on social media, “To my incredible co-star, @rashmika_mandanna thanks for trusting me with your life… literally, hanging in the air with no floor under you! Not easy, but you did it with such grace. You’re a STAR for a reason and an absolute inspiration!”

While the song is part of the film’s soundtrack, this video version does not feature in it and was done for promotional purposes only. And going by the response to the song, it seems that gamble paid off and how! Speaking to OTTplay, Dheekshith had earlier said that while he had attempted the kind of lifts and jumps one does in contemporary dance during his stint on Dance Karnataka Dance several years ago, at the level and intensity as seen in Nadhive was a first for him, as also shooting a song on a set.
