The trailer of the Fahadh Faasil led film, which came out today, ended with the release date – June 23

It’s highly unlike Hombale Films to begin promotions of a production late in the day. While the bigger films like KGF 1 and 2 had months of publicity and mega events, Kantara had a lot of social media promotions in the run-up to the release, and then multiple press tours after the film clicked at the box office. Even its most recent Raghavendra Stores got more than a month’s publicity, starting with the release date announcement on Jaggesh’s birthday.
Strangely enough, the same is not being extended to director Pawan Kumar’s Dhoomam, which is the production house’s official entry into Malayalam cinema. Although KGF and Kantara have had dubbed versions in the language, Dhoomam is a bonafide Malayalam film. Today, on June 8, Hombale Films released the Malayalam and Kannada versions of the film’s trailers without much fan fare and announced that the Fahadh Faasil led film will be in theatres only two weeks later, on June 23.
While Fahadh is known to be reticent when it comes to film promotions, it was expected that Hombale Films would turn things around and follow its usual flamboyant all-out style, but so far, that’s not the case, which netizens have also been pointing out. Comments have popped up that the trailer announcement should have had a new poster, instead, they had recycled the title poster yet again. Similarly, the fact that the release date has been mentioned in passing at the end of the trailer has also not gone unnoticed. “Expecting much better promotion through social medias,” wrote several users.
The trailer, though, has created a lot of intrigue, a momentum that netizens say the production house should keep up in the next couple of weeks. But with Prabhas’ Adipurush being the big release of June 16, that’s going to be a tough task.
