The news that Naga Chaitanya and director Vikram K Kumar were to reunite after Manam and Thank You for a horror web series for Amazon Prime Video was more or less official many months ago. Today, the streaming platform, as part of its announcement spree (of 41 projects for the platform), has officially confirmed the web show. Titled Dhootha, the web show apart from Naga Chaitanya, will also feature Parvathy Thiruvothu, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Prachi Desai and Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam in important roles.

Many years ago, Vikram K Kumar had shot to fame with the horror-thriller 13B, starring Madhavan and Neetu Chandra, which had an innovative, catchy premise that worked with audiences across multiple languages. Now, the filmmaker makes a return to the genre with Dhootha after many years. While elaborating on Dhootha's premise, the streaming platform shared that it is a supernatural horror show where possessed inanimate objects destroy the lives of a group of wrongdoers. Amazon also released the first look of a bespectacled Naga Chaitanya in Dhootha.

Sharrath Marar of Northstar Entertainment, who backed web shows like The Grill (on Viu) and Gaalivaana (on ZEE5), is bankrolling Dhootha. Vikram K Kumar, besides being the director, is also the writer and the executive producer of Dhootha. The other writers include Dondapati Venkatesh, Poorna Prajna, Sripal Reddy and Naveen George Thomas. Amazon Prime Video hasn't announced the release date of the show yet. Dhootha is the first Telugu project for the female leads Parvathy and Priya Bhavani Shankar.

Vikram K Kumar and Naga Chaitanya's second collaboration, Thank You, a coming-of-age tale that also stars Raashi Khanna and Avika Gor, is expected to have a release later this year. Naga Chaitanya is all set to make his Bollywood debut with the Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chaddha too.
