Dhootha, Naga Chaitanya’s OTT debut, is gearing up for its global digital premiere on December 1. Vikram K Kumar, who associated with Naga Chaitanya for Manam and Thank You earlier, teams up with the star for the third time for a supernatural thriller. Renowned producer Sharrath Marar bankrolls the show also starring Priya Bhavani Shankar, Parvathy, Prachi Desai, Tharun Bhascker and others.
Ahead of its release, the trailer of Dhootha was unveiled by the streamer today, commemorating Naga Chaitanya’s birthday. Naga Chaitanya is cast as an earnest and sincere Telugu journalist Sagar, who stands up for a cause. He claims journalists are messengers in the world. His life takes a turn for the worse when a mysterious cartoon strip wreaks havoc on his life. Sagar is a murder suspect now.
How far will he go to prove his innocence? What’s the trigger behind the eerie deaths? What starts off as a mysterious one-off event in Sagar’s life changes the course of his career soon. While Priya Bhavani Shankar is cast as Sagar’s wife in the show, Parvathy plays an investigative cop. The shoot of Dhootha had commenced in 2022, even before Thank You released in theatres.
Much like 13 B, where television was a crucial link between a man and his future, newspaper is the medium of communication in Dhootha, whose trailer creates just the right amount of curiosity prior to the show’s release. The technical appeal including the cinematography, haunting background score and the slick editing are the icings on the cake.
Raghu Kunche, Ravi Babu, Ravindra Vijay, Pasupathy form the supporting cast of the OTT show. Dhootha also marks Parvathy’s first outing in Telugu, while Priya Bhavani Shankar forayed into the industry with the Santosh Soban starrer Kalyanam Kamaneeyam. Amazon Prime Video was also the OTT partner for Naga Chaitanya’s recent releases - Custody and Thank You.
