Filmmaker Gautham Menon has managed to secure a streaming partner for his upcoming movie Dhruva Natchathiram, starring Chiyaan Vikram, ahead of its theatrical release.
Vikram in Dhruva Natchathiram
Filmmaker Gautham Menon's long-delayed spy thriller Dhruva Natchathiram is getting ready for a wide theatrical release in November. As its premiere date draws closer, Gautham seems to be in the process of finalising the movie's pre-release deals.
In a significant development, Gautham has secured a substantial deal with streaming giant Netflix, which has acquired the streaming rights for Dhruva Natchathiram. The film features Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role, and this deal is expected to help Gautham in ensuring a smooth theatrical release on November 24. The production and release of this movie were primarily delayed due to financial constraints.
It's noteworthy that while talking at the Leo success meet, Gautham thanked producer Lalit Kumar. "Only I know how helpful that remuneration was at the time," he said.
It's believed that Gautham accepted offers to act in movies to raise enough money to complete the post-production work on Dhruva Natchathiram and give it a theatrical release.
For the uninitiated, Dhruva Natchathiram has been in the making for more than five years now. Suriya was supposed to play the lead role in this movie. However, before it went on the floors, Suriya and Gautham had a fallout, prompting the superstar to walk out of the project. At the time Suriya had also issued a scathing statement suggesting that he was no longer interested in working with Gautham.
Following that Gautham even tried to rope in Superstar Rajinikanth for the project. However, that didn't materialize and finally, Vikram took on the lead role.
Dhruva Natchathiram went on the floors in late 2017 and Gautham shot it in many locations across the world. Even though the production was completed in 2019, the film encountered many post-production challenges.
Besides Vikram, Dhruva Natchathiram also stars Ritu Varma, R. Parthiban, Radhika Sarathkumar, Simran and Vinayakan.
