Rising production costs of the film, which has already been delayed for more than a year, is seen as a reason for a rift between Uday K Mehta and Dhruva

When Dhruva Sarja began working on director Prem’s KD The Devil, a role for which he had to lose much of the muscle mass he had gained for his heavier-set look in Martin, there were rumours that all was not well in the camp of the AP Arjun directorial. Dhruva had not shot for the songs at the time, which was completed only recently, much after the actor went on schedule break from KD. The buzz in industry circles was that the delays in production of Martin were allegedly hurting producer Uday K Mehta dearly. The interest payouts on the funds pumped into Martin so far are rumoured to be to the tune of a couple of crores every month, owing to which the budget of the film has allegedly sky-rocketed, making recovery through post-theatrical rights sales a difficult proposition.
During the making of Martin, it was also said that since the film is based on a story by Dhruva’s uncle Arjun Sarja, the team had to allegedly, run everything by the Action King and get his approval before proceeding with further shoots, delaying the whole process further. This prompted rumours that there’s been a fallout between Uday Mehta and the actor, which, Dhruva has sought to dispel, claiming that all was well and that the duo is set to do another film together, called Rhino. Considering that Dhruva is only four films old in over a decade, with the fifth, Martin, yet to release, it remains to be seen if and when Rhino will actually take off. The actor, we hear, is committed to a few other projects after KD The Devil.
Speaking to the media on the occasion of his birthday, Dhruva said, “Any speculation of a fallout is just that – a rumour. He is a wonderful and passionate producer and I would easily do another 5-6 films with him.” Martin, meanwhile, is an action-based family entertainer that revolves around the identity of the title character. Dhruva is paired with Vaibhavi Shandilya and Anveshi Jain in the film, with Nikitin Dheer pitching in as the antagonist. The film is currently in post-production, with only some visual effects and re-recording pending.
