Action Prince Dhruva Sarja’s next, KD The Devil, the Prem directorial produced by KVN Productions is, reportedly, targeting an early September theatrical release, with the 4th said to be the most likely date. It had earlier been said that the makers were okay even with an August theatrical outing, but decided against it, since composer Arjun Janya’s directorial debut 45 will release for Independence Day.
The latest we hear is that the team is set to begin full-fledged promotions shortly, with a teaser launch next week. Given that KD The Devil is getting a pan-India release, the team is looking at drumming up enough excitement around it in the coming days. A source tells us that the teaser is set to be released on July 10, 2025.
A period action drama set in the 70s, KD The Devil is an exploration of Bengaluru’s underworld during the era and is, reportedly, based on true incidents. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, V Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Shilpa Shetty, among others.
Meanwhile, Dhruva’s last release was Martin, the AP Arjun directorial, which was universally panned to such extents that the makers resorted to copyright strikes against anyone posting a negative remark. This move has caused a serious dent on Dhruva’s image inside and outside of Karnataka and it will take the team of KD a fair bit of rebuilding for the film’s pan-India release.
Director Prem’s track recent record has also not been the most confidence inspiring, with his last, Ek Love Ya, creating no ripples at the box office, while the one prior, The Villain, had an initial opening owing to its star cast – Sudeep, Shivarajkumar and Amy Jackson – but then fizzled out.
KD’s September 4 release means that it will compete with Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4, Tejja Sajja’s Mirai and Sivakarthikeyan’s Madharasi, among others.
