Well, it certainly looks like 2022 is a big year for Kannada film audiences. Pretty much every actor worth his salt will have a release this year. The late Power Star’s James is already in theatres, KGF: Chapter 2 arrives in a few days, 777 Charlie and Vikrant Rona will be out in June and July respectively. While Upendra has had a release already, his next, Kabzaa is likely to have at least one part in theatres this year, while Darshan’s Kranti is also expected in 2022.
And now we hear that Action Prince Dhruva Sarja will also join that list. The actor’s film with Addhuri maker AP Arjun, which is being backed by Uday K Mehta, has locked September 30 as its release date, in time for the Dasara festive season. The film will be released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. While not much is known about the subject of Martin, with the team remaining quite tight-lipped, it is believed to be a college tale, for which Dhruva has been following a rigorous workout regimen and really buffed up.
The film pairs Dhruva with Vaibhavi Shandilya, with whom he most recently shot in the Kashmir valley. The film also stars Sukrutha Wagle and Anveshi Jain in pivotal roles. Dhruva was earlier committed to a film called Dubaari with producer Uday K Mehta, which would have reunited the actor with Pogaru maker Nandakishore. Sreeleela was announced as his heroine, but shortly after, it was reported that Dubaari had been shelved, as Nandakishore walked out of the project and proceeded to direct Shreyas K Manju’s Raana instead.
So, Uday roped in filmmaker AP Arjun, who launched Dhruva with Addhuri in 2013 and already has a good rapport with the actor. Martin, we hear, is now in post-production and Dhruva will soon embark on his next, a film to be directed by director-actor Prem, who most recently made Ek Love Ya, with his brother-in-law Raanna.
