The highly anticipated action thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, now has a release date after months of rumours. Aditya Dhar (URI: The Surgical Strike) and Jio Studios have rescheduled the historical espionage drama's release date to December 5, 2025.
On July 6, 2025, Ranveer Singh's birthday, the film will unveil its first look. The makers are prepared to release the teaser on Sunday at 12:12 PM, just as originally planned. As filming nears completion, the scheduling is deliberate and strategic.
Pinkvilla reports that the final 25 days of Dhurandar filming will wrap up in early September. The makers have already edited and lined up all the shot segments, and post-production work is proceeding concurrently. According to an insider, production will wrap up editing by the end of October, and then they'll launch a 45-day marketing campaign that begins with Diwali.
As the years 1970 and 1980 unfold, Dhurandhar follows India's clandestine intelligence activities from beginning to end. It is anticipated that the story will traverse various places in Pakistan and India, mirroring the actual changes in geopolitics throughout the years.
In the film, R. Madhavan plays Ajith Doval, while Ranveer Singh plays an undercover agent who was one of the first in India. Notable actors like Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Yami Gautam, and Arjun Rampal are among the many reasons why this film has been highly anticipated.
The team had been considering both release dates—December 5, 2025, and January 9, 2026—before making a decision on the earlier one. The insider told the entertainment portal that at the moment, the members of team Dhurandar are seated with a poster and teaser that state "December 5, 2025 release." Additionally, the insider went on to say that December 5, 2025, is the current target release date for the Aditya Dhar directorial, barring any last-minute changes to January 9.
Vishal Bhardwaj's Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor, and Prabhas's Raja Saab are currently competing with Dhurandhar on the same day at the box office. On the other hand, the former may move to January 2026, which would reduce competition.
Dhurandhar is Ranveer Singh's first film after the smash hit Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in 2023. The project is looking promising from all angles: a talented cast, a seasoned director, and a plausible plot for an espionage thriller.
