Why is Dhurandhar’s new version in theatres?
Theatres across India received an e-mail from the distributors of Dhurandhar on December 31. The mail confirmed that the change is that the makers muted two words and changed a dialogue in the movie. This happened after a directive from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India.
“The cinemas were requested to download the new content and play the revised version of the film from January 1, 2026,” an exhibitor who wishes to remain unnamed confirmed to Bollywood Hungama. This little birdie also revealed that one of the words censored from the movie is ‘Baloch.’
Dhurandhar Box Office collection update
Dhurandhar became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 after beating Rishab Shetty’s Kannada film Kantara: Chapter 1 at the Box Office. The movie continues making records with its new version, after crossing Rs. 725 crore net at the Box Office. The movie is expected to earn at least Rs. 800 crore before crossing 30 days at the Box Office.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun in the lead roles. The movie had a slow start upon theatrical release on December 5, 2026. However, things turned around for the movie and thanks to positive word-of-mouth, Dhurandhar: Part 1 now breaks records.
