After the film The Gambinos, Sakkir Madathil’s next venture, Jailer, has Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead role. The makers of the film recently released the trailer, which shows that it is a period drama. Dhyan and Manoj K Jayan play police officers in the film, which is set in the 1950s, with Dhyan as a jailer.

Navas Vallikkunnu who is known for his performances in films like Kuruthi, Thamaasha, and the web series Kerala Crime Files, has a pivotal role in the film. Divya Pillai is the female lead, and the other actors are Unni Raja, Binu Adimali, and Sreejith Ravi.

Dhyan's film courted controversy since it has the same title as Rajinikanth's eagerly-awaited film, Jailer. The makers of the Malayalam film had sent a notice to Sun Pictures,  the makers of Rajinikanth's film, about using what they claim is their film's title and requesting that they change it.

Director Sakkir claimed that he was the first one to register the title in the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce in 2021, before the Rajinikanth film, which was not even announced at that time. But the latest is that Sun Pictures has denied the request and decided to move forward with the title Jailer.

According to Sakkir's Facebook post, he was served a 200-page notice from the Chennai High Court in which Sun Pictures looked to assert its big stature. The director also made it clear that he will not bow down and said that he is determined to fight the case.
