Did Alia Bhatt ‘set the mood’ at Met Gala ahead of her upcoming Hollywood film? Mahesh Bhatt believes so

2022 was indeed a phenomenal year for actress Alia Bhatt. She won praise by delivering a powerful performance in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Gangubai Kathiawadi. Soon, the star made her debut on the OTT platform, by featuring in the film Darlings. Later, she was seen in the film Brahmastra which was a huge hit at the box office and earned over Rs 300 crores.

This year, too, the starlet has started her year with a bang. Recently, Bhatt made her appearance at Met Gala 2023 – which is often believed to be fashion’s biggest night out globally. Several high-profile celebrities, including Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Nick Jonas, Isha Ambani, graced the red carpet at the event.

Alia’s red-carpet appearance was liked by many, including those present in top-notch positions in the film fraternity. And now, the Bollywood diva is all set to make her Hollywood debut in the American spy action thriller film Heart of Stone. In view of these developments, Alia’s father Mahesh Bhatt did not shy away from heaping praises on his little one.

In an interview with ETimes, he said, “I see Alia’s visit to the Met Gala event as a precursor to the release of Heart of Stone which is a Netflix-priced asset that they are releasing somewhere towards the end of this year. So, I think this kind of sets the mood for her to be more visible in that landscape and then slowly build up from there.”

“Cannes and Met Gala are prestigious events, and the world keeps its eyes on these events. The international, upmarket, glamour brands look for a face to represent them in our country, which has got a huge population and a growing sizeable upper middle class that has an appetite for products manufactured by these labels. I think that is also one of the possible targets that Alia may be having to strike,” he concludes. 

Alia, meanwhile, will next be seen in the Bollywood film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani alongside actor Ranveer Singh.
