Did Ramya just confirm that she’s indeed working with Raj B Shetty?

Ever since Kannada actress Ramya began actively posting film-related stuff on social media, whether it is a fun banter with friends like Dhananjaya, Rakshit Shetty, Amrutha Iyengar, or former co-star Kiccha Sudeep, or her take on some film/show she’d seen, or just her best wishes to a team she hopes does well, there has been speculation that she will make a comeback to cinema at some point.

This was fuelled by the actress dropping by the set of Dhananjaya’s Hoysala and meeting the team at Hombale Films, which has been making big-ticket movies in Kannada. There was also a rumour that Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana maker Raj B Shetty has a script that is apt for Ramya. On the occasion of Ganesha Chaturthi on Wednesday, Ramya had revealed that she is indeed returning to cinema, but not only as actress. She officially launched her production house, AppleBox Studios, wherein she will back theatrical and OTT projects. The theatricals, she’d said, would be distributed by KRG Studios.

As for her acting comeback, Ramya was recently asked in an interview with Times of India about all the rumours surrounding her first film in 8 years and whether it is with Dhananjaya, Rakshit Shetty or Raj B Shetty. Ramya had responded that she is indeed doing a film with a ‘Shetty’, someone whose film she had seen earlier this year. This should rule out Rakshit, whose first release since Avane Srimannarayana, happened only in June. Rakshit has been busy with Sapta Sagaradaache Ello and will now start work on Bachelor Party too.

Rishab Shetty had Hero last year, and has, since then, been busy with Harikathe Alla Girikathe, and his own directorial, Kantara, which is due for release on September 30. Rishab is also starting work on Bachelor Party, which leaves Raj B Shetty the only Shetty who is free and ready for a new venture. Raj’s second directorial, Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana was critically-acclaimed and did fairly good business at the box office too. Since its release in November last year, Raj, by his own admission, has just been whiling away time, playing cricket with friends and being with his pet dogs back home in Mangaluru.
