Did you know Animal's Rashmika Mandanna cried, comforted Ranbir Kapoor after slapping him in the film?

Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Animal was one of the biggest blockbuster hits of 2023 . But director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film also had its fair share of controversies, with many slamming it for its misogyny and violence. Not much has been said about the film in the recent past, but now lead actress Rashmika Mandanna has opened up about a particularly emotional scene in the film, saying that she "cried for real" after that.

When Rashmika Mandanna slapped Ranbir Kapoor

The scene in question involves Rashmika's character, Gitanjali, slapping her on-screen husband, Ranvijay (Ranbir Kapoor), after he confesses to sleeping with Zoya (Triptii Dimri).  Rashmika told Pinkvilla about the challenges she faced while filming this intense sequence, which, she said, was a one-take sequence since it involved a lot of movement. Calling it unpredictable, the actress confessed that she didn't know what she was going to do in the scene but was advised by Sandeep to put herself in the shoes of someone in that situation. She added that her mind went blank in the moment and that she doesn't really remember it.

Rashmika's emotional outburst after the scene

"After the sequence, I was crying for real. I had slapped him and I was screaming. There was a lot of chaos. I went to Ranbir and asked him if he was okay. We finished that sequence in half a day. I loved it, and at that moment, I realised that this is the high of being an actor. People don’t always write sequences like this. I am so glad that I did this movie and this sequence. I surprised myself,” she said.

Animal was the first collaboration between Ranbir and Rashmika. The film was released in theatres on December 1 and quickly became a massive success, raking in a staggering Rs 900 crore at the box office. Along with Ranbir and Rashmika, the film also stars Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.
