Divyenndu might have made his full-fledged debut in Pyaar Ka Punchnama but he was rather teaching Kartik Aaryan on the sets of the film. Kartik, who also made his debut in acting with the movie, had just graduated from engineering college. All he had to contribute to the sets was happy smiles.
Divyenndu told Siddharth Kanan in an interview that he would feel good look at how Kartik would be happy almost all the time. Sharing that there wasn’t much to learn on the sets, Divyenndu also added that he was teaching Kartik on sets. It is to be noted that by that time, Divyenndu had made his acting debut with Madhuri Dixit-Nene’s Aaja Nachle. He played the role of MLA’s goon in Madhuri’s comeback film.
Divyenndu (then Divyendu Sharma) played the role of Liquid in Pyaar Ka Punchnama. Originally called Nishant Agarwal, Divyenndu put his all into Liquid and thus, his character remains one of the most iconic in the film.
The song ‘Bann Gaya Kutta’ was based on his frustration towards his job and manager. A whole scene dedicated to Liquid and his friends is also among one of the most iconic things in Pyaar Ka Punchnama.
However, Divyenndu gave up on the franchise after the first installment. The actor says that the reason why he did not take up a role in the second installment is because he invested everything in Liquid and there was no scope of further growth there. Thus, he moved on to other projects.
While Kartik was making his name in films through PKP 2, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Dhamaka and now Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Divyenndu became recognized on OTT as Munna bhaiya in Mirzapur, a web series which has become iconic now. In this Amazon Prime Original show, Divyenndu plays the role of Akhanand Tripathi (Pankaj Tripathi)’s son Munna and Guddu bhaiya (Ali Fazal)’s opponent.
