Aamir Khan has taken a completely novel route to build the hype around his new movie Laal Singh Chaddha. Instead of a trailer release, the makers dropped the song ‘Kahani’ first. Following this was a podcast centered on the making of the movie and in the debut episode where Aamir recently discussed how the song came into being.

The actor mentioned that he and his crew, which included composer Pritam and lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya, worked on ‘Kahani’ from his Panchgani home on the outskirts of Mumbai.

“Over there, creative work turns out to be good. They (Amitabh and Pritam) locked themselves in a room and we could hear instruments strumming. Whereas, we used to work on dialogues, costumes and some other things in the garden,” revealed Aamir.

As he continued to express his thoughts, he also discussed how Laal Singh Chaddha, a remake of Tom Hanks’ Oscar-winning movie Forrest Gump, has been a dream of his for the past 14 years. He mentioned that it took him a long time to acquire the rights of the film.

Adavita Chandan will direct Laal Singh Chaddha, which stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Naga Chaitanya. This movie will mark Aamir and Kareena sharing the screen space for the first time since Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots.

‘Kahani’ was released on April 28 and is a soft, sentimental track, which the makers said “beautifully encapsulates the movie and in essence introduces the audiences to the film.” Since it’s release, the song has received much praise from the audience and has only increased the curiosity around the film and its trailer.

Laal Singh Chaddha has been postponed multiple times due to the pandemic, and it will now be released in theatres on August 11.
