Hina Khan rejected for Laila Majnu for 'not looking Kashmiri enough'

Even if the dusky Triptii Dimri did bag the role, Hina Khan was out of Laila Majnu for the very reason, a report on BollywoodLife suggests. Hina was ousted at the last minute because she did not look 'Kashmiri enough,' and the irony is that Hina Khan belongs to a Kashmiri family. The actress was shocked to learn the reason for her rejection, but moved on quickly, since there wasn’t much she could do in the matter.

Upon its original release, Imtiaz Ali’s Laila Majnu flopped at the Box Office. The movie did not generate enough buzz back in 2018 due to lack of promotion. The film’s re-release in 2024 caused a rage and theatres went houseful, with viewers calling it an 'underrated gem.'

Hina Khan's struggles with cancer

Hina Khan is undergoing treatment for stage 3 breast cancer. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, the actress has not shied away from taking on new projects and was last seen in Griha Laxmi. She also made various appearances on Salman Khan’s reality show, Bigg Boss 18.
